House, now in use as school. c1877. Coursed and squared rusticated rubble with graded slate roof with cresting. Gothic style. 2 storeys with attic, and square in plan, though asymmetrically detailed. Entrance front has central entrance in gabled porch, with stilted arches to porch and inner doorway which is banded brick and stone. Foliate hoodmould and capitals to arches. This central bay is expressed with steep hipped roof with wrought-iron brattishing. Stair windows alongside, moulded arched lights and quatrefoils over upper windows. 2-light window over doorway and in right-hand bay. Projecting octagonal scullery or wash-house to right, with pyramidal roof. Left-hand return elevation a 3-window range with central expressed gabled bay and 2-pane sash windows. Garden front has canted bay window with marble shafts and ornamental parapet in the right-hand bay, 3-light mullioned and transomed window above, with blind segmental arches over beneath steep coped gable with trefoiled panel and finial. 4-light mullioned and transomed window to left with 3-light window with blind arched heads above, in advanced gable carried on corbels. Narrower windows to service bay beyond, with lower roof. INTERIOR has retained many of its original features, including the tiled floors of the entrance porch, plaster ceilings and friezes, and most of the interior carpentry. Central stair hall with ornate gothic-style stair, and massively detailed marble fireplace. Flat stained-glass lantern light to roof of hall, and coffered painted ceiling over stairs. Stained glass window lighting stairs.
