Description

EWELL 1. 1086 CHESSINGTON ROAD (North Side) West Ewell Railway Station including the platform on the west side of the line TQ 2162 21/306 II

2. Circa 1847. Brown brl.ck. Double flat pitched slate roof with bargeboarded gables to entrance front. 2 storeys. Band. Entrance front has 2 round- arched sashes with moulded stucco voussoirs flanking double doors with fielded panelling, segment-headed fanlight and moulded stucco voussoirs. 2 narrow round-arched sashes on 1st floor. Right hand part slightly set back: 1 sash with glazing bars on ground floor, timber-framed and roughcast oriel on 1st floor. 1 storey extension to left and right. Platform side similar to main part of front, with 1 door in each of the setback sections to left and right. Original canopy on 4 iron columns with coved capitals, and ornamental bargeboards. Shelter on opposite platform. Timber. 2 fixed windows with glazing bars. Canopy taken on iron brackets with ornamental circles in spandrels. Bench round inside, and double door leading to waiting room behind. An early country station almost unaltered.
