Farmhouse. C14 with C15, C16 extensions & C18, C20 alterations. Part brick with some vitreous and some chequer, upper part tile hung with patterned tiles on north, west and south sides, date 1980 in contrasting tiles on west; tile hanging and brickwork covers timber frame. Plain tiled roofs hipped to north and south, one hip and one gable to west. Rectangular plan made up of 3 blocks; C14 block running north/south on east; C15 block altered C16 running west/east on south; C16 block running west/east on north. 2 storeys; late C16 chimney on south end wall, ridge chimneys at and west end of ridge of south block. North Elevation:- block to left breaks forward slightly with higher roof, 3-light. C20 casement to left, arch cut in brickwork to right provides access to C20 door in recess where timber frame can be seen behind brickwork; block to right-two 3-light casements on first floor, 2-light casement to left and glazing bar sash to right of central 4 panelled door in C20 brick porch. South Elevation:- 5 glazing bar sashes, 4-light casement to left of ground floor, glazing bar sash and 4-light casement to right, door off-centre left. Interior:- East Block: roof contains two smoke blackened trusses with scissor bracing and cruck-like principals to west, first floor bedroom has large ceiling beams with cyma recta and cyma reversa moulding and chamfered and stopped joists; ground floor has 2 similarly moulded beams. South Block:- 4 bays of framing, first floor rooms extending up to roof collars, very tall queen post trusses with curved struts to double butt purlins with wind bracing, ties, posts and braces all chamfered, C16 added chimney at west incorporates bacon smoking loft on first floor; ground floor room to east of 2 bays with very large moulded beams, chamfered and stopped joists and large C16 inserted chimney to west with eye carving on fireplace beam; possible cross passage to west of chimney and further room with large C16 chimney with eye and cross carved on fireplace beam and central carved decoration F1579F, possibly a later addition. North Block:- altered C16 spiral stair which formerly rose around central post to east, 4 bay roof of altered collared trusses some including re-used carved timbers.
