House. Later C18 (mentioned in will of 1806: inf owner), reroofed 1866, rear stair extension 1980. Symmetrical, 2 storeys, 2 windows, clay lump plastered, facing E. Slated roof hipped to S, said to have been thatched. Brickwork of 1866 cottages on N overlaps 2 ft of N end, and N gable chimneystack is now shared. Double pile, double fronted plan with stair formerly in rear N room. Chimney with back-to-back fireplaces on Ground floor in mid-wall of S part. E front has plinth and overhanging eaves. 4-panel flush beaded half-glazed front door with light gabled porch. Symmetrical arrangement of flush box sash windows with 8/8 panes. Lower windows larger. Rear has Yorkshire sliding casements to Ground floor but small 2-light leaded C18 mullioned windows with iron casements to 1st floor. Sympathetic rear extension for new stair in 1980. House of blacksmith and wheelwright with forge to W. C18/C19 cast iron pump next to rear wall. Fluted cap. Spurred spout out of bottom of chamber. Long wrought iron counterweighted handle. Early double pile plan and late use of clay lump construction, now obsolete, for a domestic building.
