Two houses, No.25 now a shop, with earlier rear wing. Late C18, and C17 rear wing. Ham Hill stone ashlar, slate roof with stepped stone copings and brick stacks to centre and right gable end, truncated one to left. Double-depth plan. Each house is of 2-storey, symmetrical 3-window range. House to right, No.27 Monksmead, has 6/6-pane sashes to first floor and early C19 eight/eight-pane sashes flanking an 8-panel door with a very narrow overlight: top 2 panels of door are glazed, central 4 raised-and-fielded and lower 2 beaded. To the left of the door was a narrow shop window, now filled in with matching ashlar. The left-hand house, No.25, has early C19 eight/eight-pane sashes and a C20 shop inserted to the right with ramp up to set-back door. INTERIOR: No.27, to the right, has a flagstone stairhall, some late C18 doors with rim locks, early C19 dog-leg staircase and elliptical arch to the landing, and part of a late C19 cast-iron arch-plate to a former register grate, now with an inserted C20 grate. The limestone rubble rear wing, at first-floor level, set into the hillside, is totally remodelled apart from an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered, almost flat, arch to the Moolham stone lintel, and stopped chamfers to the jambs; to the right of the fireplace is a bread oven.
