SK 44 30 PARISH OF SHARDLOW AND GREAT WILNE WILNE LANE, GREAT 7/223 WILNE (West Side) Wilne Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. C16, early C18 and early C19 with late C19 and C20 alterations. Close studded timber framing and red brick with brick and stone dressings. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with two large brick ridge stacks and sawtooth eaves band to south elevation. Single storey plus attics to eastern range and two storeys to southern range. Irregular plan with three bay south range and two bay east range, originally with lobby entrance plan. South front has flush door below bracketed hood with a glazing bar sash below cambered head to east and a 3-light segment headed horizontal sliding glazing bar sash to west. Beyond to west there is a C20 brick wall with two C20 casement windows. Above there is a segment headed 2-light horizontal sliding sash roughly over the door to east and a C20 casement window to west. East elevation has two storey late C19 canted bay window to south and early C18 part to north with blocked segment headed doorcase to south and two segment headed windows with C20 casements to north. Above to centre there is a raking dormer with similar window. Rear elevation of south range has an advanced gabled bay to centre with brick to ground floor and close studded timber framing above. Interior has a C17 panelled door into this bay and C17 shaped splat balusters to top of staircase in southern range. Eastern range has narrow straight staircase against the stack and a large inglenook fireplace.
