Silk mill. Dated 1832 at 3rd floor. Pink brick with sandstone lintels. Rectangular plan, plus stair-tower on west side. Four storeys plus attic and basement, 5 windows including stair-tower to right, all now with C20 plastic-framed double-glazing, plus a very large lunette in the gable, which is flat-topped; large plaque between 2nd and 3rd floor windows lettered "1832 / NEWTON SILK MILL". Interior: fireproof construction, with cast-iron columns carrying segmental barrel vaults running parallel to street; winder staircase in curved chamber.
