TM 14 SW WASHBROOK OFF THE STREET 2/37 Amor Hall 22.2.55 II House. Mid C16, early C17, mid C19. Timber framed, rendered, the front lined as ashlar, plaintile roofs, that to main range crested. Brick stacks one axial, one external to right return, both with paired C19 ornamented shafts with oversailing caps, curtailed external stack to left. The right hand stack is partly c1700, of mixed bonds, offset at base and at first floor. 2 storeys, part with cellar. 4 bay facade. Crosswing to left. Ground floor of three 3-light small paned cross casements, two C19, that to right renewed 1987. C19 canted porch with tiled roof, 4 panel plank and muntin door beneath label, and with blind tracery to the head of the panels. To each side a 4 pane fixed light beneath similar label. First floor 2-light small paned casement over door, the other three windows are 3-light casements; all first floor windows beneath labels. Small inserted glazed light to left of 2-light window. Moulded brackets support elaborate roll and billet moulded oversailing cornice. Left hand cross wing now part garage, timber framed, hipped roof to south east. Two-light casement with label to side of garage doors, small first floor light above. South-east face, two ground floor 6-pane 2-light casements, 3-light first floor casement, 2-light raking dormer casement. C19 brick stack linked to roof by tiled roof. Brick outshut, with slate roof. Rear of cross wing has exposed collar, and assorted casements. Rear of main range; brick ground floor outshut with C19 and C20 openings, slated roof. Three first floor 3-light 4 pane casements beneath labels. Right hand return. Single light casement to rear of stack. Interior. Cellar beneath parlour, stop chamfered beams, horizontal joists. Hall stack enclosed, with fireplace inscribed JTAD 185L (7 or 4) HT (Took). Cross beams with hollow and ogee mouldings to all but right hand component which is plain chamfered. some chamfered joists. Parlour to right, c1600 decoratively plastered longitudinal beam, the soffit bearing repeated motif of slender scrolls deriving from lozenge. Finely moulded ogee and filleted cornice. Plain chamfered longitudinal beam to kitchen. First floor, some exposed frame with jowled posts, beams crudely cut or covered, cross beams over hall. Blocked rear mullion window to attic stair, remains of window to ground floor to front of stack. Butt purlin roof to right hand bay, larger scantling 2-tier staggered purlin roof to remainder, with collars at random, and struts to lower purlins. Weatherboarded closed truss between roof builds. Cross wing chamfered wall plate, jowled posts, the roof covered in. Horizontal ceiling joists, some original ceiling and wall material in garage.
