2. *Ye Old Moot Hall* formerly painted under 1st floor orial. A good small C15 building. 2 storeys and attics. Cross wing, North end, timber-framed and plastered, roofs tiled. All timber framing exposed on front. The cross wing upper storey projects on curved brackets on front, upper window is an oriel of 7 lights with a very picturesque pent roof above. There is another oriel West on North side of cross wing upper storey. There is a central paved passageway between the cross wing and main block, with original 4-centred archway and original planked oak door with strap hinges. Main block has 2 storey 4-light bay window with small gable above with decorated barge boards and fascia. Modern restored doorway and modern lean-to addition South end. Both cross wing and main block gables have plaster fanlight treatment, now much weathered. Interior has many good features C15-C18. Ground floor cross wing has 2 original blocked doorways to central passage, original fireplace with remains of murel painting of Royal Arms James I above. Some panelling. Ground floor main block has some Cl8 features and good corner cupboard. House is erroneously called 'Ye Old Moot Hall" (this was on Market Hill) but may have been the Guildhall of the weavers.
