Cottage. Early C17, largely rebuilt by William Pinney in C19. Local lias stone cut and roughly squared, with Ham stone dressings; clay pantiled roof between stepped coped gables; brick end chimney stacks. Two storeys with attic, 2 bays south elevation. Hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with labels; 4 light to ground floor, 3 light to first and 2-light to the gabled attic dormer windows; rectangular leaded panes with some iron opening casements; cambered arched doorway between bays with timber and tile porch; part string course at first floor cill level; above each dormer window small plaques with initials 'WP' in gothic script. West side elevation may be less rebuilt, with cill string course to first floor; to ground floor a pair 2-light mullioned windows, the left with hood mould; centrally to first floor an oriel window of 1+3+1 light wave and hollow chamfer moulded windows having simple stepped corbell under and stone slate hipped roof; in gable a plain 2-light chamfered window with label and plaque over. Interior not seen, but reported are ceiling beams with scroll stops; spiral stone at rear, partly renewed; moulded 4 centre arched fireplace, and plain partition. William Pinney owned Somerton Randle (qv) and did much building work in the late C19. (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, 1974).
