WOMERSLEY PARK LANE SE 51 NW (east and south sides) 5/23 Gate piers and wall to Womersley Park

GV II Gate piers and wall. Probably early C18 and late C18. Magnesian limestone rubble and pinkish-brown brick with ashlar dressings. Piers project slightly from wall and have square ashlar frieze and cornice surmounted by obelisks. Entry is infilled and has a now-blocked pedestrian entrance under double segmental arch. Further entrance to west end a 6-fielded-panel door within elliptically-arched surround. The wall extends around the corner of Park Lane for approximately 30 metres and has ashlar capstones. To part of wall are blocked elliptically-arched openings for heating system. It forms an integral part of the village scape.
