PAINSWICK SO 80 NE 5/16 Dovecote cottage, Sheephouse (formerly listed as farm building with dovecote, at 21.10.55 Sheephouse) GV II Former dovecote and outbuilding, now cottage. Probably C17 but much modified C19 and C20. Squared and coursed limestone over rubble plinth, stone slate roof. A 2-storeyed cross-gabled dovecote with 1½-storey extension. Dovecote, has 3-light stone-mullioned casements to stopped hoods below an oval oculus in square setting; south and east gables have pigeon ledges and blocked openings. Extension has 2 dormers above 2-light casements with leading, and lean-to porch. Included primarily for group value with the Sheephouse (qv), for which it was originally built.
