LITTLEHAM SS42SW 6/133 The Old Rectory GV. II Rectory, now house. c. 1830; porch to right added and right-hand cross wing remodelled c. 1878. Stucco with rusticated quoins over coursed slatestone rubble; gabled slate roof with bracketed cornice; rendered brick ridge stacks. Double-depth plan. Late Regency style. Garden front of 2-storey, 4-window range to left of cross wing. Verandah across front is supported by Greek Doric columns and entablature. Flat arches over two tall 12-pane sashes and a French window with quoin strips to jambs on right; four 12-pane sashes on first floor. Gable end of cross wing to right has later C19 tripartite sash with plate-glass windows above cornice over similar sash. Later C19 French windows set in Greek Doric porch to rear left; c. 1830 and later C19 sashes to rear elevation. Porch on right side of cross wing has heraldic cartouche (of Rev.H.G. Morse) set in plasterwork panel dated 1878 above cornice over eared architrave framing 6-panelled door. Interior: ground-floor rooms have moulded cornices and panelled doors. Stair hall to rear left has straight-flight stairs with winders, turned balusters with palmed bases and wreathed handrail. H.G. Morse was rector during the fine-quality restoration of the Church of St. Swithun (q.v.).
