9/29 Summer House in Grounds 25.8.60 of Ebrington Manor

House. Described from raised linear terrace to rear. Late C17/early C18 Queen Anne Style house. Late C18 bakehouse. C20 extension. Main body: irregularly bonded brick on projecting brick plinth with moulded limestone top. First floor. Flemish bond brick with coloured headers in top 5 courses suggesting rebuilding. Rusticated limestone quoins. Limestone slate, hipped roof with brick stack with moulded limestone top from eaves left. Bakehouse right: large limestone rubble with rusticated quoins. Domed oven projecting from right wall. Limestone slate roof with ashlar stack from eaves near front. C20 extension: coursed squared limestone with artificial stone roof. Main body, one roomed with one roomed bakehouse attached right. Bakehouse and C20 extension left of main body are flush with the facade but the latter is extended back at rear. Main block: 2 storeys and attic with 2 flat roofed dormers from roof with 2-light C20 casements with horizontal glazing bars 3-windowed: 4 and 8-pane sashes with moulded limestone architraves with moulded sills also. The sills of the 8-pane sashes on the ground floor have decorative brackets below. 6-panelled, double door, up 3 steps in lugged, moulded limestone architrave with broken segmental pediment over, housing heraldic shield. Architect-designed C20 extension left has 8-pane sliding sash windows and central Venetian window style doorway in left wall. Interior of main body: Small barrel vaulted cellar under. Original wooden spiral stair in right corner at rear. Polished limestone fireplace with keystone, probably C19 in central room. Ceiling of central room formerly had original decorative plasterwork, this was transfered to the open hall in Ebrington Manor in 1925. Limited inspection of ground floor only.
