Count (account) house, now private house. Circa early-mid C19. Coursed dressed granite front, otherwise rubble with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, sills and lintels. Half-hipped grouted scantle slate roof with brick chimney over each side wall. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan : double-depth plan: 2 equal rooms at the front, through passage between, stair at rear left of passage, pantry far left; back kitchen behind right hand room. It is possible that when the house was a count house that part or all of the first floor was used as offices with perhaps a large board room at the front. The central first floor window originally was taller, possibly there was a bay window. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3 window south-east front. Central doorway with wide door with 3 bottom panels, a wide central panel and 2 top panels later glazed. The window over the doorway is blocked under, the circa late C19 12-pane horned sash was probably fitted when the house ceased its function as a count house. The right-hand windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes, the left-hand windows are horned copies, all in their original openings. Original 16-pane sashes also at the rear except for the also original 16-pane horizontal sash (with zinc gauze to the opening light) fitted to the larder. The rear left hand first floor room is lit by an original 16-pane hornless sash in the left hand wall and there is also a window opening cut in the C20 over the larder window. Small C20 rear porch. Interior not inspected. Count houses were often built to high standards and sometimes resemble the better houses of their period. This one is a good example.
