KEMBLE KEMBLE VILLAGE ST 99 NE 7/59 Bank Cottage II Detached cottage. Reputed to be C14, part possibly medieval but little clear evidence. Possibly late C16/early C17, enlarged late C17/early C18. Random coursed rubble stone in thin courses, stone slate roof, 2 stone stacks, left end stack and ridge stack. Single long range of single storey and attic probably originally with cross passage, with slightly smaller section to south which may be oldest part. Main part of cottage in left-hand section has 3 gabled dormers across eaves with paired wooden casements, arranged as one to left, 2 to right. Ground floor has 3-light to left, and two 2-light to right, all with renewed timber lintels. Original doorway blocked, just left of centre. Section to right has small central gable with 2-light casement in moulded stone frame, probably originally with mullion. On ground floor, double glazed doors to left and 2-light to right, both with timber lintel. Main entrance on south end. Rear has gabled projecting wing in centre of main section, gabled dormer across eaves to east and two 2-light on ground floor. Interior has 2 large fireplaces with timber bressumers in main section, and chamfered plain beams throughout.
