House. C17 with late C18 refenestration. Coursed squared limestone, graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 7 uneven bays with a C20 glazed door and porch between bays 3 and 4 with gap in fenestration above. Plinth. Glazing bar sashes in flush wood architraves throughout. Projecting first- floor band. Large multiple-flue ridge stack between bays 4 and 5, small stack to left. Rear: remains of recessed chamfered mullioned windows of 2 and 4 lights; a stair window with interlaced glazing bars to first floor, right. Attached barn not of special interest. Interior not inspected at resurvey. A large and important house; the fenestration of the front facade is not symmetrical and the present entrance does not line up with the main stack; these facts, combined with the survival of early mullioned windows at the rear and the proximity of the early outbuilding (qv), suggest a long and complex building history.
