SOUTH NEWTON WARMINSTER ROAD SU 03 SE (west side), South Newton 3/46 Milepost GV II Milepost. 1840. Cast-iron pillar with low pedimented capping. Lettering: SALISBURY/5/WARMINSTER/16, the latter distance is not visible due to subsidence of plinth. One of a series of cast-iron mile posts on radial turnpikes around Warminster and along the A36, manufactured by the Warminster firm of ironfounders, Carson and Miller and dated 1840. (R.
