Mill and millhouse, now private house. Possibly C17 origins. Rendered and painted
stone rubble and cob. Rag slate roof to mill on left with hipped end on left and
gable end on right. Corrugated asbestos roof to millhouse on right with gable ends.
Projecting end stack on right with set offs and cloam oven projection. It is possible
that the ridge and the stack have been partly reduced in height.
Plan: Millhouse on right of 2-room plan with entrance originally to left with large
hall kitchen on front, heated by end stack and small unheated shallow service room to
rear. Mill set slightly forward, attached on left hand end, with overshot wheel (now
gone.) originally on left hand end wall.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Mill set forward to left with 3-light casement to left and
small window to right. The mill has been extended slightly to the left over the site
of the water wheel and pit. To right the mill house has a regular 2-window front
with a C20 window in probably the earlier entrance to left and 3-light casement with
remains of slate string to right. Two 2-light casements on first floor. Entrance
now in right hand side wall of mill.
Interior: Fairly roughly cut floor joists to millhouse spanning front room and
resting on remains of heavy stud partitions to rear, originally separating hall
kitchen and service range. The fireplace has a timber C17 ovolo moulded lintel, the
stops covered over; the jambs do not correspond with the stops, the fireplace being
slightly narrower, suggesting that either the lintel has been re-used and re-set or
the fireplace has been reduced in size. None of the mill machinery survives.

insitu.
