Farmhouse and adjoining barns. Dated and inscribed over entrance JOHN SCOTT 1695 GRACE BRINGS SALVATION BY AN INWARD LIGHT WORKS REFORMATION IN A PIOUS MIGHT THEN LISTEN WELL UNTO CHRISTS VOICE WITHIN AND TENDER THAT WHICH KEEPS US OUT OF SIN; C20 alterations to rear. Painted roughcast walls on large projecting plinth stones. Graduated greenslate roof with stone chimney stacks. Barns with cement roughcast walls. 2 storeys, 5 bays with further 2 bays to right under common roof; barns continue to left at right-angles in L-shape, partly of same roof line. Plank door in painted stone architrave under dated and inscribed frieze. Ground floor casement windows with stone mullions removed and flanking fire windows all under continuous hoodmould extending over entrance to right. Similar windows above with oval window over entrance. C20 ground floor window to right and sash windows above in early C18 chamfered surrounds. Rear of house has C20 steel casement windows. Higher part of barn has chamfered-surround entrance under Tudor arch with further chamfered-surround entrance to right. Upper floor casement window has stone mullion removed. Right-angled extension has central plank door in C18 chamfered surround. John Scott was an active member of the Society of Friends, hence the inscription. Extensions to barns projecting into farmyard are not of interest.
