Large house, C16 with C18 remodelling to rear. Coursed rubble with quoins. Graduated slate roof to each pile and wing with central stepped and corniced stone chimney stack running parallel to ridges. Symmetrical double-pile plan with projecting stair wings. Tall 2-storey, 5-bay front with cellars and attic. Steps up to central full-height gabled porch with enriched rectangular frame to semicircular head of outer opening (keystone has Bellingham coat of arms); internally, bench to left and offset panelled door with figure of mermaid above. Upper storey of porch has 4-light front window with 2-light returns. Three 3-light windows to each floor (2 to left, one to right); 2 similar windows to each gable wall (one to each floor with 3-light mullioned attic window to north). All these windows are mullioned and transomed; all original windows have hoodmoulds (continuous over 1st floor). 2-light mullioned windows to stair wings (some blocked); south wing has wooden framed attic opening just below eaves with decorative rainwater head adjacent ("I.G. 1702"). 3-storey rear pile has a small porch and a number of sashes with glazing bars to ground and 1st floors; barn doors to attic above (wooden crane internally). A number of moulded fireplaces survive; ground floor front room (south) contains remains of vine-leaf plaster frieze. See R.C.H.M. for plan and further details.
