Farmhouse. 1855. George Godwin (editor of "The Builder"), for the Duke of Beaufort. Rubble, freestone dressings, slate roofs. Picturesque composition of gables and chimneys. Main elevation has 2 gables of 2½ storeys, 1 window alongside a 3½ storey tower; most windows are 3-light transom and mullion; left gable has an oriel above, right gable has a canted bay below and Beaufort arms above, there is a gabled and glazed porch below the tower which rises with single lights to a pyramidal roof with dormers capped by crestings. Similar gables and windows, some under drips on other elevations. The whole crowned by an elaborate set of octagonal stacks. Interior retains contemporary plaster ceiling decoration, good staircase with carved finials and pendants, pierced balusters and a cusped niche on the landing. The doors are strongly X and Y braced and all doors and shutters are reinforced with metal bands, as a precaution against threatened social unrest.
