BARLING MAGNA MUCKING HALL ROAD TQ 98 NW 12/53 Roach Farmhouse 29.4.83 II House, undergoing restoration at time of re-survey. Mid C16. Timber framed, originally weatherboarded with some brick. Originally with plain and fish-scale tiled roof, crested ridge tiles. Large central red brick chimney stack. Baffle entry. 2 storeys and attics. Central gabled 2 storey porch. The central chimney stack, ground floor cambered mantel beam, cast iron firesurround with semi-circular arch, 2 original first floor brick fireplaces with wide chamfered arches, one with inserted ornate cast iron hob grate. Stick balusters to staircase by chimney. Through bracing to some walls, side purlin roof pegged at ridge, intermittent collars, jowled storey posts, haunched soffit tenons to floor joists.
