House. Mid C16. Timber framed and plastered with timber frame exposed on first floor and C20 pargetting on ground floor. Roof is of peg tiles and hipped with gablets at each end. Of 2 storeys with long wall exposed jetty on front and C18 lean-to on north end linked to C20 hipped roofed extensions. Front has off-centre C20 gabled porch with exposed framing and brick nogged gable. Exposed timber framing includes cut back remnants of a number of moulded oriel windows and a complete moulded bressumer. 2 bays at the south end are C20 extensions and are treated similarly but with pentice roofed garage opening in the end bay. Windows are C20 timber leaded light casements. A typical 4 bay long wall jetty house with richly moulded bridging joists, spine beams and common joists with swept stops. Rear wall stack has mantel beam with similar mouldings. A central service wall door retains its arched head and a similar arched head in the front door position has sunk spandrels and moulded surround. Upper floor partitions seem to have been entirely without studs, probably as a boarded infill. Scarf joints are halved and bridled and floor joists have soffit tennons with diminished haunches. RCHM 29.
