Villa, now 2 dwellings. c1830-50 with later additions and alterations including conversion to 2 dwellings and conservatory of c1959. Possibly by Samuel Daukes. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof, some artificial slates, tall front and side stuccoed stacks; iron balcony. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic and with basement to rear, 3+3 first-floor windows, the three to left in full-height canted bay. Stucco detailing includes tooled architraves to windows. First floor has 6/6 sash to centre of bay between 4/4 sashes, otherwise 6/6 sashes. Ground floor has 1/1 horned sashes at left and plate-glass French windows to right, concealed beneath conservatory. All windows in plain reveals and with sills and tooled architraves. Flight of steps to central Doric porch with wreaths to frieze and round-arched opening with keystone; 2-panel door with sidelights and overlight. Wide eaves on brackets. Attic roof dormer has round-arched 8/8 sash. Right return: 3 + 3 first-floor windows, mainly 6/6 sashes, but with 3 French windows to ground-floor at left. Basement has 8/8 sashes. Rear 4-window facade has 6/6 sashes, except to ground-floor at left a tripartite window with 4/4 between 2/2 sashes and central entrance a C20 door. INTERIOR: retains original joinery and plasterwork; narrow-open-well staircase (to 10A) has embellished iron balusters alternating with rods and wreathed handrail. Embellished cornices, some with anthemion motif. 4-panelled doors and tooled architraves, panelled shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Some ground-floor windows retain louvred shutters. Continuous ground-floor balcony to right return and balconies to rear have scroll and oval motifs. A prestigious villa on the edge of The Park development, where Daukes was architect of several of the villas.
