RUSHDEN FRIARS GRANGE TL 33 SW 7/23 Friars Grange II House. Early to mid C16 origins, C18 additions. Remodelled in C19, altered in C20. Timber frame, all roughcast and weatherboarded. Slate roofs. 2 bay 2 storey C16 block perhaps a wing of a larger house, now disappeared. Narrower and lower 1 storey and attic 3 bay extension attached to a weatherboarded former outbuilding. Original block has a ground floor C20 rectangular bay projecting to front, C20 flush frame casements. Inserted cross axial ridge stack on shallow pitched C19 roof. 3 bay range to left with 3 small gables, cross axial stack. To rear: original block jettied with exposed joists, largely underbuilt. 2 gables on 3 bay addition, right bay of which projects slightly with sham timber framing. Entrance to left of this range. Entrance with C20 bracketed hood in outbuilding to right, gable end of which has another entrance. Interior: quirked wave moulded cross axial bearer with later chamfered axial bearers in C16 bays, exposed jowled posts of large scantling.
