House. C17 or earlier. Timberframed, weatherboarded or plastered, with steep pitched old red tile gabled roof. A long, 2 storeys house facing E with its weatherboarded gable end to the street. Side walls plastered. Low tiled and plastered extension against rear part of E side. Rear part of W side weatherboarded and on a different alignment. Very large red brick chimneystack at W side against front end roofed by an extension of the tiled slope at a lower pitch, emphasised by the bargeboard. 2- and 3- light wooden casement windows in flush frames. Coved eaves cornice on E side. Up to 1836, this was the Hunsdon Workhouse Master's House (HLHS (1979) 26). A low wing parallel with the road set back on the E side has been demolished. an historic timberframed house. tart of a group in this part of the village conservation Area.
