Farmhouse. Late C16 or early C17, altered mid-C19 and C20. Timber-framed with brick infill, sandstone plinth and sandstone rubble refacing to southern end of west front, tiled roofs. Five framed bays aligned north/ south with entrance to west front, large lateral stack to east front and right of centre axial stack, C20 addition to north. Two storeys, cellar and attics. West front, irregular fenestration, one 3-light casement window to left and three small windows, clustered to right lighting staircase, one directly below eaves and lower one above girding beam, 3-light window in C20 single-storey extension to left with re-set battened ledged door; C20 3-light window to left and small window to right of gabled C20 porch with ledged inner door, door down to cellar further to right. East front retains two 2-light stone mullioned windows lighting attic. Interior has fine moulded ceiling beams, and panelling in central room with C17 over-mantel of four arched panels flanked by fluting. The house was visited by Celia Fiennes and mentioned in her account of her travels around England, the house was owned by relatives of hers. (BoE, p 295).
