Lengthman's house, now house. c1777, on the Trent and Mersey Grand Trunk Canal. Red brick, cement tile roof with brick gable stacks. Two storeys. First floor brick sill band and attic band. West elevation of three bays. Central doorway with panelled door and rectangular overlight. C20 open porch. Flanked on each side by tripartite glazing bar sashes under wedge brick lintels. The first floor has a glazing bar sash under a wedge brick lintel, flanked on each side by tripartite glazing bar sashes under wedge lintels. Centre bay rises to a pedimented gable with a circular window. The Canal was sanctioned by an act of 1766, opened to a point near Stafford in 1770 and completed in 1777. High Bridge House was built as part of this canal development.
