STANWAY WOOD STANWAY SP 03 SE 4/133 Thriftwood Farmhouse (formerly listed as part of 4.7.60 Thriftwood Farmhouse and Barn to north) GV II Former farmhouse, now house. Probably first half C18, C19, altered mid C20. Squared, coursed stone, stone-slate roof. Five-window front, one-room deep, 2 storeys; slightly lower extension on right. Entrance front: 3-light casement, cambered stone head; 2-light C20 mullioned window; boarded door up 2 stone steps, stone lintel; 4-light mullioned window with king mullion, 2-light mullioned, both leaded lights, early iron opening lights, second with old glass: 2-light C20 mullioned window replacing doorway. Above 2-light casement on right; four 2-light mullioned windows, iron opening lights, leaded lights. Ridge chimney with moulded cap on left end and to left doorway. Interior: to left entrance, wide stone fireplace, timber lintel, small cupboard recess at rear, stone seat on left. Wide chamfer to ceiling beam. Timber-framed cross-wall to end room, wide chamfer to beam, simpler stop. 'M. Drury, August 2 1886' on pane of glass in 4-light window. Converted at some period into 2 cottages, recombined mid C20. Forms group with barn (q.v.).
