PAINSWICK SHEEPSCOMBE SO 81 SE 2/289 The Croft II Detached house with carriage house. Mainly C19 but incorporating some C17 or C18 work. Limestone ashlar, coursed and squared to carriage house, concrete tile roof. Lofty main block having symmetrical central unit, with extra bay added left, and large rear wing; to right is lower, set-back carriage house. Main block: two storeys and attic, 1+2 windows: at ground floor a C20 square oriel with lead tent-hood, a small 2-light cusped lancet, and 2-light recessed chamfer stone mullioned casements flanking central glazed C20 door, these 3 set to continuous stepped hood-mould; at first floor a 2-light and two 3-light mullioned casements, each with stopped hood-mould. Carriage house is 2 storeys, 4 windows; at ground floor two 6-pane sashes flanking C19 part-glazed door in studded surround, and a wide elliptical arch with keystone containing pair of plank doors to strap hinges. At first floor, four 2-light chamfer-mullion casements to stopped hood-moulds. Interior not inspected.
