15/6 Granary approximately 20m to west of Ferris Court Farmhouse 15.4.82
GV II
Formerly dovecote, later cartshed and granary. C15; altered to cartshed with granary late C18 or early C19. Coursed rubble limestone; corrugated roof. Rectangular north-facing cartshed with granary loft over. Parapet gabled ends. Two cart doorways with large timber lintel and central stone pier inserted in lower part of north end. Plank-shuttered opening with timber lintel immediately above main lintel; 2-light chamfered mullioned window above that with hoodmould. Loft opening with timber-lintel at south end. Central pointed arched doorway on east side. Stone granary steps immediately to left with projecting nosing to landing; loft doorway with timber lintel. Interior: 3-bay collar and tie-beam truss roof, probably dating from time of conversion to cartshedwith granary. This building is probably contemporary with adjoining barn (q.v.) and is therefore associated with the disappeared medieval manor house - the dovecote use being reinforced by this connection.
