Large house built 1907 by V.A. Lawson, enlarged c1960. Cotswold style. Random limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone slate roof. Rectangular plan comprising two parallel ranges with the C20 extension to the east gable end. Main body: 2 storeys and attic. C20 extension: 2 storeys. Two gables project slightly from the entrance front. Single-light, 2 and 4-light stone- mullioned casements, the latter with king mullions. All casements with stopped hoods and leaded panes. Flat-roofed projecting porch to central gable with moulded basket-headed surround and hoods with diamond stops; moulded cornice to the parapet. One 2-light and one 4-light flat-roofed roof dormer. Four-windowed garden (south) front with 2 gables each with a 2-storey gabled bay. Four-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with king mullions to both bays and to the far right-hand bay. Between the two a central flat-roofed porch flanked by single-light windows; parapet with moulded cornice; 3-light window above. Two single-light windows and a single round-headed window to the attic of the left-hand gable; 2-light stone-mullioned casement above the right-hand dormer. Three-light roof dormer with segmental pediment over the central light; 2-light flat-roofed,dormer to the right of the right-hand gable. Two and 4-light stone-mullioned casements to the C20 extension. Gable-end and axial stacks. Interior not inspected. (David Verey, Buildings of England.
