Description

POULTON CRICKLADE STREET SP 00 SE (off west side) 4/88 Vicarage Cottage 4.6.52 GV II Detached cottage. Probably C16. Rubble stone, stone slate roof, large stone end stack to right with twin diagonally set stone flues, single end stack to left. Single range with small rear cross range and lean-to forming catslide roof across back, 2 storeys and attic. Two gables to front, each with single stone- framed light in gable with dripmould, additional dripmould below across width of gable with 2-light stone mullion with square hoodmould directly below. All with leaded casements. Three-light stone mullion with square hoodmould to left on ground floor and renewed 2-light to right with projecting central gabled porch probably of late C19 or early C20. Right hand return has 2 staggered single stone-framed lights with dripmould towards rear, lighting surviving wood newel stair. Said to be the oldest cottage in Poulton. Interior not accessible.
