Camerton 4/24 Cart-shed/stable/granary ranges at Camerton Hall Farm approximately 120 metres south of Chestnut Lodge

- II Cart-shed/stable/granary ranges. Late C18 for Edward Ombler, with C19 alterations and addition in north-west angle. Brown brick with pantile roofs. L-shaped on plan, forms north and west sides of foldyard; north range contains cart-shed to east, stables to west; west range contains stables with cart-shed outshut on east side. 2 storeys. West range, west side: 8 first-floor openings. Central segmental-arched waggon entrance with double board doors on strap hinges. To left, a stable door with 3-pane overlight and a similar door flanked by a sash and a blind window panel, both with basket arches. Similar openings to right of waggon entrance, but with 15-pane casement. Small rectangular first-floor hatches, 4 with board doors, one with a 4-pane casement and 2 with doors missing. Stepped eaves. Roof hipped to left. East side, facing foldyard, has 2 segmental-headed ground-floor hatches to right, a pair of hatches above, and a 6-bay arcade to cart-shed outshut on left, with elliptical arches on square brick piers with rounded angles, the left bay with C20 blocking. North range, north side: 12 first-floor openings. To left, a 5-bay cart-shed section with mid C19 cast-iron columns carrying a continuous timber lintel, and a board door with blind overlight panel beneath segmental arch. To right, a stable door and 4-pane overlight beneath a segmental arch, flanked by single blind basket-arched window panels, and 4 small breathers to each side. First floor: central board door beneath raised eaves, flanked by hatches with boord doors on strap hinges. Stepped eaves. Tumbled-in brick to raised gables. Section to right angle has segmental-headed ground-floor window, single first-floor hatch, single-flue stack corbelled-out to corner, hipped roof. Left gable end has segmental-headed stable door, diamond-shaped breather to ground floor, hatch to first floor. South side: 10-bay arcade of round arches with recessed blocking, containing 2 stable doors and 3 part-glazed wooden ventilator hatches to left, inserted door to right; 11 first-floor hatches similar to north side, most with board doors. Interior of west range contains stalls with keyed segmental archivolts on square piers. Not fully investigated. Adjoining ranges to east and south are not of special interest. Formed part of the large farmyard to Camerton Hall, now demolished.
