Farmhouse. C15, C17, C18, altered C19, C20. Brick-nogged timber-framing, weatherboarding to 2 gable trusses, stone plinth; ribbed concrete tiles. 'T' plan, with further wing off cross piece: 3-bay cross piece, 2-bay wings, all 2-storey. Garden front, viewing T from base; on left large external stone chimney, 2 diamond-set brick stacks. Framing 2 panels high per floor: high plinth, 3-light casement ground floor, weatherboard over: 3- light casement above. Left return projecting wing, steps down to boarded door to cellar, timber lintel. Three-light mullion and transom window, weatherboard over, ground floor, 2-light casement above. Gable, external stone chimney, offsets at eaves level, brick top: gable truss weatherboarded. Right return 3-light mullion and transom ground floor, 2-light casement above. Lean-to hides face of cross wing on right, single-storey, timber-framed, 2- light casement. Half-hip to main roof, brick chimney on ridge to left. Interior: left room main block heavy chamfer to ceiling beams, exposed chamfered joists: full cruck truss to right, extending into roof space. One bay to right further cruck truss, built short of ridge for half hip: chimney stack beyond stone up to roof void. First floor, left some scratch moulded panelling: wing on garden side hollow chamfer to main beams in ceiling, exposed chamfered ceiling joists. Eaves to roof raised, probably in C17 when floors inserted, and roof pitch flattened to main block. Tie beam, collar and angle-strut truss in wing: gable high collar, V struts over. Internal walls timber framed. Two bays of cruck house remain, altered probably C17: extended to right by one bay; C17 wing towards garden. Wing on entrance side probably C18, originally granary on first floor, now part of house. Roof thatched until mid C20.
