CATESBY UPPER CATESBY SP55NW 4/47 Stone House 18/01/68 (Formerly listed as Cottage about 275 yards E of St. Mary's Churchyard) - II House. Early C18 with C19 alterations. Coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings and some red and blue engineering brick, tiled roof, brick ridge stacks. 2 storeys and attic. 4-window range. Gabled porch incorporating C13 Early English arch with two orders of shafts and three roll moulds, thought to be from Catesby Priory. Herringbone courses above and small open trefoil window in gable. 2- and 3-light casement windows have stone sills, timber lintels and jambs and hoods in blue brick. Side elevations have herringbone and blue brick stretcher courses in gables, C19 bay window to right side. Stone coped gables with kneelers. Interior has stop chamfered spine beams.
