Offices. 1909-11 by Sir John Burnet. Portland stone ashlar cladding steel frame, slate roof. Subtle restrained handling of classical motifs incorporating figure sculpture; part of the Aldwych-Kingsway development. 6 storeys plus attic storey and dormered mansard. 7 windows wide, with front curved convexly following line of Aldwych. Ground floor has central entrance framed by coupled Doric columns as are flanking windows, the dark bronze detailing of window and door frames increasing the effect of depth and shadow in ground floor provided by the colonnade. Simplified classical detailing to surrounds of bronze casement windows on upper floors. Sharply profiled main entablature below set back attic storey. Pairs of high relief carved figures are disposed in triangular composition on upper floors.
