Forecourt walls, gates, gate piers and terrace retaining wall. Circa 1700. Grey sandstone ashlar. Walls form 3 sides of the entrance forecourt to The Old Manor House (q.v.). Chamfered plinth and chamfered coping, ramped up to one corner, and stepped and ramped up to terrace. Pair of central square gate piers, each with moulded plinths, chamfered rustication, moulded cornice and stepped cap to globe finial; flanking walls steeply ramped up with carved scrolls and husk drops. Pair of wrought-iron gates with dog rails, spearhead dog bars and railings, and curved braces. Terrace retaining wall with rounded top; central flight of 9 stone steps with curved walls (evidence of former railings in coping). The recesses in the forecourt side walls suggest that the terrace retaining wall was formerly higher than at present, or that it also had railings.
