5/166 Corner House -

GV II

House. Mid-C19 remodelling of earlier house with later additions and alterations. Roughcast probably concealing timber frame; slate roof. Original baffle-entry plan of 3 framed bays disguised by later alterations. One storey and attic; 4 multi-paned mid-C19 casements with bracketed gabled hoods to ground floor and one gabled dormer in roof slope to centre. Present entrance through boarded door with bracketed pedimented hood in mid-C19 single-storey brick addition to right. Reddish brown brick ridge stack to left of centre to main range. Irregularities in plaster suggest third window from left may be in position of former doorway. Gabled brick porch to rear has boarded door with semi-circular fanlight and Salop Fire Insurance plate above. Interior: main ground- floor room (to centre) has 2 chamfered spine beams and oak winder staircase leading off.
