House. Probably C16, remodelled C17 and C19. Cruck construction. Coursed ironstone rubble with C19 brick extensions, asbestos tile roof, brick and stone stack to left of centre. Cross passage, L-plan. One storey and attic; 4 bays. Entrance in second bay from left has moulded wood frame, 4-panel door with panelled reveals and gabled timber hood. 2-light window to left has C17 moulded stone jambs, wood lintel and C20 metal casement to right and similar 2-light window in the right bay. Gabled half dormers with C20 metal casements. Sides rebuilt in brick. East gable end is said to be timber framed, Mid C19 brick extension projecting forward from left side at rear. Interior: in easternmost bay on the ground floor is part of chamfered spine beam, sawn off joists and remains of an early stud partition above. Other ground floor rooms have stop-chamfered spine beams. 2 pairs of raised crucks in roof. One with wattle and daub infill. This may have been a C16 three bay house extended one bay to the west in the C17. P. Woodfield has noted smoke blackening in the roof and suggests that it was originally an open hall house. (P.
