Country house. Late C16 (the date 1555 appears in the gable of a later porch, north side). Red brick with flint and brick plinth. Roofs plain-tiled and pantiled. I½ and 2½ storeys. 3, 4 and 5-light hollow chamfered brick mullion and transom windows, plaster much repaired and renewed, C20. Moulded brick drip moulds over openings. 2½ storey range with later off-centre gabled porch with octagonal brick and stone gable finials. Gable contains 1555 datestone. Three window range, with irregularly-spaced openings. Three gabled dormers with finials, centre gable with blocked opening above window. Two chimney stacks on ridge line (one opposite entrance) with triple octagonal shafts, moulded bases and caps. Blocked attic gable window with hollow-chamfered mullion and surround. Parapeted gables with roll-moulded copings and octagonal finials. Two blocked window openings in north gable. Three gabled dormers on rear (north west) : centre dormer blocked. Many blocked openings on this elevation. At the junction between the two blocks, a two storey gabled porch with four-centred arched opening (now blocked by later window) with moulded drip, and two-light window above. Parapeted gable with roll-moulded coping and octagonal finials. Massive external stack on rear of lower wing with pantiled link to main roof. Lean-to between stack and entrance porch. Lower wing much restored; two gabled dormers with blank panels in gables on front elevation. Interior: some original doors and frames survive. Solid baulk stair, partly rebuilt and re-set in timber framed stairwell. Principal rafters have curved "cruck" braces in roofs of both ranges. Butt-purlin roofs with windbraces to lower purlin.
