SP4635 ADDERRURY CROSS HILL ROAD (South side) Adderbury West 6/20 North Bank and attached 08/12/55 outbuilding (Formerly listed as North Bank, Bloxham Road)
GV II Substantial house and outbuilding. Early C18, possibly partly earlier. Coursed squared marlstone and ashlar; concrete plain-tile roof with ashlar and brick end stacks. Probable central-stair plan with subsidiary range. Baroque style. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window ashlar front of main range, with plinth and storeybands linked by corner strips, has a central doorway with a fine moulded stone doorcase comprising an eared architrave with a projecting keyblock, around which breaks the cornice; the 20-pane first-floor sashes have moulded stone architraves and sills plus projecting keyblocks, but at ground floor there are 2 renewed shallow canted bay windows. Steep-pitched roof has gable parapets. Subsidiary rubble bay to right has a further entrance plus a 3-light casement at ground floor, and has a renewed sash at first floor. Rubble outbuilding extending further to right, with a steep-pitched corrugated-asbestos roof, has a further entrance and a garage entrance. Interior not inspected.
