Description


BURBAGE WESTCOURT SU 26 SW (east side) 2/63 The Kennels II

Farmhouse. Early C18 and C19. Diaper brickwork with slate roof. Two storeys and attics, original building of 5 bays, symmetrical, with central entrance. Half glazed door with overlight, lined reveals and later C18 stone portico with slender Tuscan columns and entablature with Greek fret on architrave, and paterae on frieze. Twelve-paned sash windows with heavy glazing bars and near flush boxes. Gauged brick lintels. Moulded brick eaves. External stack to left gable. Right gable extended beyond second original gable stack by a wide early C19 bay with paned casement windows. Gable tile hung. This bay extended to rear by further two bays forming wing, with 16-paned sashes and dentilled eaves. Gabled stack. Interior not seen.
