BRADING SZ6088 HIGH STREET (East side) 1352-0/6/81 Brading Gun Shed II
Gun shed. Probably C17 in origin altered in lated C18 or early C19 and restored in 1983. Isle of Wight stone rubble with some random tiles, ashlar quoins and red brick dressings. Renewed tiled roof 1 storey. Cambered arched doorcase with pegged wooden architrave. 4 plank ledged and braced door. 1 square window opening with modern wooden shutter. Rear elevation has 1 square wooden mullioned window. This building housed the town gun which was last fired in 1832 on the passing of the Reform Act. (See item 1/112, Coach house to Nunwell House.)
