BRADING SZ58NE Great Whitefield Manor 1352-0/1/36 II
House, formerly farmhouse. Early C18 or earlier, restored in C20. Red brick in Flemish band now painted. Half-hipped roof now covered with modern pantiles. Off-centre brick chimneystack. 3 bay lobby entrance house of 2 storeys and 4 windows with 1 storey brewhouse attached to left. Mainly triple casement windows. Projecting gabled weatherporch. Rear elevation has catslide roof and projecting 2 storey hipped roofed portion of 1 bay with casement window. Former brewhouse has end chimneystack and 1 triple casement. Interior has an early C18 2-panelled door and Sun Fireplaque No 746965. One of the original Domesday manors, valued at 7. (WINTER CWR:The Manor Houses of the Isle of Wight:199).
