2. The original portion was a square mansion built by David Jenkinson about 1780. 3 storeys and semi-basement. 5 windows. Light brown brick. 2 stone string-courses above ground floor. Modillion cornice above 1st floor with pediment in the 2nd floor. Cornice and parapet above 2nd floor. The 3 centre window bays project slightly but the centre one of these is recessed on the ground and 1st floors and the 2nd floor window is set in a round-headed arch framed by the pediment. The ground floor windows are round-headed. The centre windows have moulded architrave surrounds, with architrave over them on the 1st floor and balustraded panel below it. Porch at the head of curved steps of the sedan type with fluted Doric columns, pediment and semi-circular fanlight. Mid-Victorian addition to the south with 3 windows facing south-west and 4 windows facing south-east. Service wing to the north. The entrance is now at the north-east corner through a gigantic domed conservatory.
