Terrace of 13 houses. c1840. Limestone ashlar, party wall stacks and a double-pile roof. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 2-window range. A formal terrace in which the end and middle 3 houses project, with a banded ground floor to a plat band, bracketed cornice and parapet. Inner doorways have recessed jambs, imposts with guttae and brackets, overlights and 2-panel doors. Tripartite ground-floor windows in shallow recesses have 2/2-pane sashes, architraves to upper 6/6-pane sashes, smaller on the second floor. Wrought-iron balconies to the first-floor windows with Greek Revival decoration. The right end house has a 2-storey side block with doorway, a small ground-floor window with margin panes and a first-floor window with a wrought-iron basket balcony. The left end 3-window house has additional late C19 decoration, a doorway with fluted consoles to a pediment, a semicircular arch with fluted key and blind windows over the doorway; the left return is a 3-window range with recessed centre, consoles to the outer ground-floor windows and balustrades above. INTERIOR not inspected. A late formal terrace with decorative details in common with South Parade (qv).
